This is a quote from the movie, "The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus":
Old Lady: "... James Dean, Princess Di... All those people... They're all dead.
Tony: "Yes... But immortal nevertheless. They won't get old or fat. They won't get sick or feeble. They are beyond fear... Because they are forever young. They are gods. And you can join them."
(Later) Tony: "Nothing is permanent. Not even death."
I was watching the Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus the other day and I realised that there are so many hidden messages in the movie. Maybe I'm looking into it too much but it felt as though there were little subliminal messages in there especially about death.
Heath Ledger died just before the movie finished shooting and so Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell had to come in and fill in for him. There was a lot of criticism on the movie especially the whole message of death in. On a lot of the websites, people have been commenting that the movie was a prediction of Heath Ledger's death. Might be true, might not be true. We'll leave that to the conspiracy theorists.
That quote actually got me thinking about the death of all the young stars. The 27 Club. The members of the 27 Club all died at the age of 27 yet they are still remembered today and people still love them. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin Jim Morrison, Kurt Corbain and most recently, Amy Winehouse are all considered legends and, as crazy as it may sound, they are "gods". They all died at the height of their careers and they all had some sort of personal problem that was made publlic and they all died an untimely death. Heath Ledger died at 28 but he might as well be a member of the 27 Club. He was brilliant at what he did and he also died at the prime of his career.
It's quite sad that these stars had such sad lives that they let their addictions swallow them up and could not live through the hardships. It's sad that they felt that they were beyond help and "chose" to just give up rather than fight and get through it with friends and family.
Nevertheless, they will never be forgotten. Even the next generations will know about them and so on and so forth. They will be remembered for years to come. They are immortal in a sense and they will remain forever young...

Everybody's Fool
At times it's best to just be yourself. Stop hiding behind a mask and maybe people will appreciate you more if you are just who you want to be. Here's a song by Evanescence called Everybody's Fool.
I've put up the lyrics and the video:
Perfect by nature
Icons of self indulgence
Just what we all need
More lies about a world that
Never was and never will be
Have you no shame? Don't you see me?
You know you've got everybody fooled
Look here she comes now
Bow down and stare in wonder
Oh how we love you
No flaws when you're pretending
but now I know she
Never was and never will be
You don't know how you've betrayed me
And somehow you've got everybody fooled
Without the mask
Where will you hide?
Can't find yourself
Lost in your lie
I know the truth now
I know who you are
And I don't love you anymore
It never was and never will be
You don't know how you've betrayed me
And somehow you've got everybody fooled
Never was and never will be
You're not real and you can't save me
Somehow now you're everybody's fool

London (Bridge) Is Burning Down
Violence solves nothing.
I do not understand why people always think that violence will resolve an issue...
Let's take a look at the happenings of the last couple of days...
One of the most important countries was involved in violent riots it has seen in years!
I mean, you can't riot in Britain... It's BRITAIN for crying out loud... The birthplace of the English language (even though it seems the occupants of Britain itself seem to be losing their mother tongue) ... It's where London is and where all the cool pop culture originates...
In the last week, however, there have been violent riots in England where buildings were looted and cars were burnt all in the name of protest!
It all started with the shootong of a BLACK (race is always put in somehow) man. The guy was apparently the first to have fired at the police and then they gunned him down and he died on the scene. The family members and the friends of the desceased, decided to hold a peaceful protest outside of the police station. It was all peaceful until one of the protestors and one of the popo (police, if you must know) got into a little scuffle. A few more people got involved, a police vehicle was smashed and more police got involved! It escalated from that to the burning of buildings and cars and the looting of shops!
I do not think the riots were even about the dead guy anymore... It was just some bored, angry kids who had nothing do on a Saturday night and who were looking for trouble. Apparently the riots were organised via social networking sites like BlackBerry Messenger and Twitter... So my question is.... What does this have to do with the dead guy?
Basically these kids just destroyed where they live and they have made life mch harder for everyone else. I mean, no one is going to be allowed to walk around with their hoodies on without being suspected as an anarchist and also they (the powers that be) are going to want to keep an eye on what society is doing as in we are probably going to be living in a Big Brother type society... We won't even be able to go to the bathroon without being watched... How lame is that??!!
Other than that, though, I guess these kids ahve also shown that the masses have a voice to stand up for themselves (it does not have to be violent though). It seems that the only way to finally get attention from the powers that be is to actin such a violent manner. It would be much easier though if they would just have a listen to what the masses have to say... Just this once.

Out of the BLUE
I thought I would be over these guys after so many years but it seems that my love for them is still there. I do not care if I seem like a gay twit. I used to have an unhealthy obsession when it came to these guys. There were times when my friends actually thought I should be locked away and the key thrown in the ocean... I was that weird kid who had like all the merchandise and the room was covered in posters of these guys. I was not ashamed. I was just being a normal adolescent girl who was perhaps overdoing it with my love for them...
I have all the albums and I still have all my postersbut they are down now, I figured it's time to grow up. It was really devastating when they decided to break up and persue solo careers. There were rumours that they would reunite... the old time fans are still waiting...
This has to be one of my favourite music videos by these lovely boys. It's called U Make Me Wanna... It's a sexy song. Just saying...

Big Fish In A Little Pond
Right now, I'm sitting in my room and I am feeling rather restless.
It's a mixture of boredom and hopelessness. Bored because there is nothing to do and hopeless because the future does not seem that bright at the moment.
Have you ever felt that you were much better than the life you were leading? That you were destined for bigger things? Every time your fingers brush against that success, something seems to pull you away from it... So you end up feeling like there is nothing much you can do.
Right now I feel like I should be somewhere else, living my life and making the wrong decisions that will put me on the right path when the time comes... but here I am... sitting in my room.
There is so much more out there for me but I do not know what it is. I still don't know what I want to do with my life... I'm just going with the flow to keep my parents happy but I'm not. I know that they have worked their asses off to get me where I am today but how do I tell them that I do not want to do this? I still do not know what I want to do. I have an idea of what I want to do but it would be seen as a waste of time. I don't know why I am still trying to live for other people instead of myself.
I feel so compressed that the more I stay in one place the more my passion to leave will fade away. I just want to get away before I become even more hopeless.
It's time for me to take a stand and take back my life and stop living according to how people want me to live. It will take some time for me to actually make it happen but I know that when the time is right, I will catch that ship of opportunity and I am going to sail away on it...
I am so much better than this...

Summer Happyness
I know it's five or six months before the Summer but everytime i think about it, I feel nostalgic and excited for the summers to come.
Summer has to be my favourite time of the year. I used to think that I was more of a Winter person but then as I grew up, I just realised that the Summer made me happier and things are just brighter and better in the Summer. I don't know if it's just me but in Summer you feel more adventurous and you find yourself doing insane things with your friends and everything is just relaxed.
So I found this video of the Kings of Leon called Back Down South and it just made me think of the summer times and how life should be fun and to forget your troubles for another day. This video reminds me of the sleepy old "town" of Port Elizabeth where the kids here have to entertain themselves when clubbing has just grown old and boring... check it out. Totally a summer video. It's just a happy video and you can feel the vibe just from watching it...

Love Ain't Got No Colour
This is such an amazing song.
Although people say that they are fine with interracial relationships, you still get funny loooks when you are with a guy who is not the same race as you.
You hear people say that racism is over yet it is still a problem to be with someone who is from a different race.
I like white guys as much as I like black guys. To me, it's all the same. If a person has a crappy attitude and an even worse personality, then they can go jump in a river. It matters not what colour they are.
My blog is short but I hope the message in the song will make itself clear...
